    I genuinely love the west wing but This is everything that is wrong with the western world view. They dehumanise enemies into rabid fanatics that cannot be reasoned with, as if all of ‘them’ are born Charles Manson / Jeffrey Dahmers. Think of the desperation and hopelessness in the environment / situation of the pregnant women that drives the creation of such behaviours. And this scene wasn’t written by some hawkish Rumsfeld wannabe, it was written by bleeding heart left leaning liberal Sorkin 🤦🏻‍♂️

    My favorite line " you talk to me about rules of war ? The laws of nature don't even apply here ". That we have to defend actions against perpetrators of the indefensible makes a mockery of those rules.

      It literally is the movie. Hold the Dark is the name of this movie. Be honest, you saw the poster of the movie, saw the guy in the snow and thought “there can’t possibly be just one scene taking place in Iraq.” Well guess what, there is. There’s a scene in Iraq. This soldier is one of the main character’s husband. He’s fighting in Iraq while she’s at home in Alaska. It’s a shame that when you looked it up, you weren’t willing to ACTUALLY look into it before being so confidently wrong on the internet.

    This scene might be the best contrast between two characters I've seen in film. One meticulously researches based on his own knowledge, patiently taking an evening and maintaining focus throughout. The other can't focus on the material for longer than five seconds, material that was researched for him, without having a hilarious emotional eruption and literally throwing the book. Two men who both want the same thing, could not be more different.

    Wasn't one of the notorious incidents of Agincourt when Henry massacred the French prisoners after they had laid down their arms? Seems like a bad example for Fitz to use.

    What a disgusting scene. In every way. There is no justice, morality, or honor here. Vigilantism is not justice. Compounded by the fact that no reasonable person in the world thinks that capital punishment is appropriate for rape. We do have a justice system that collects the facts and administers appropriate , not cruel and disproportionate, punishment. Two wrongs do not make a right.

    • @whoami-ij7db

      @robluck21 A response is always required. Someone might not have the skill or time to choose an appropriate response, but they must still respond, or they will shatter and eventually become the thing they tolerated. That's how humans work. You must respond as a signal to yourself, as much as for the justice it will dispense. Words aren't enough.

    • @robluck21
      @robluck21 22 дня назад

      @ifedhimspaghetti I understand your thinking. But in this case it's FICTION, someone wrote this it's not reality. There is a difference. So I'm criticizing the writer for such a tasteless, vulgar, provocative scene. Couldn't we do better.

    I love it when Stephen loses control of the panel. On a side note, why is it a good thing that Stephen was not born in France? Because he would then be a French Frye.

    First, they were English archers, not British. Second, prisoners were massacred at Agincourt, on both sides. Third, medieval knights DID target individuals but it was usually so they could ransom them for money. As for the French not thinking of targeting William Pitt...true, but that's because he was safe on an island protected by the greatest navy in the world. But the whole of Europe did try to capture Napoleon and succeeded. Twice
